Natalie Sweet
I can't remember the first time I picked up a pencil or a crayon or a paintbrush, or even when I realized I loved to draw. It's just been a part of me, as far back as my memories go. I loved taking a sheet of blank paper and mimicking reality to the absolute best of my ability. When I enrolled in AP Studio Art in high school, I had to learn to expand my definition of art, what I could do, and how I could affect people. I learned to work with paint, charcoal, pen, clay, a camera, Photoshop, or really anything I could get my hands on, however unconventional it might've seemed. I've been working by commission for about 6 years now. I still feel at home with just a pencil or a paintbrush, but challenging myself was essential to building my identity as an artist. My goal at the end of the day, though, is to create work that makes people happy, simple as it may seem. Eventually I met these two guys in a band who took a particular interest in my ability. Not just for one project, as it usually goes, but for the long term. I don't know a thing about music, but they don't seem to mind. They've become two of my best friends, and they have some truly amazing artistic ideas that I've been honored to make into reality.
